MICROPLASTICS
OBJECTIVE
To register the concentration of marine debris in different regions of the coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula. In order to provide relevant information that this research, through the years, generates, and is used as a forerunner of marine debris on the coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula, also as a tool to create solutions and alternatives that reduce the impact of microplastics in ecosystems of the region and the oceans globally.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Since one year ago we started this project in collaboration with 5 Gyres with research purposes of data collection of microplastic samples in different regions of the Yucatan Peninsula Coast, using as a collection tool the "Manta Trawl" which is provide by the same organization.
During research season with mantas and during other seasons we carry out this sample collection that afterwards are taken to the lab for further analyze.
